Description:

The Elizabeth neighborhood is located just minutes from Uptown but the serene streets make it feel like a hidden oasis. The name for the community comes from Elizabeth College which was established off Monroe Road in 1897. The college later moved to Virginia but the name stuck around. It's the only neighborhood in Charlotte named after a woman. The Elizabeth neighborhood is the home of the first public park in Charlotte, Independence Park. Also in the area is Presbyterian Hospital which began in 1917 and has become one of the top hospitals in the Carolinas. Most of the homes have maintained thier bungalow style with the homeowners renovating but managing to retain the old style charm.
